Food for the Soul - Welcome Home

We believe in real food that tastes like it should.  Most dishes/drinks are prepared and cooked to order (therefore please be patient).  We use fresh ingredients, with no artificial ingredients, margarine, MSG.  We use non processed foods i.e. wholemeal flour (for the homemade brown bread), raw cane sugar, fresh fruit & veggies (organic where possible and we grow what we can), real butter and fresh milk.

Our menu caters for both eastern and western tastes, with a varied selection of breakfast items such as our Gecko breakfast (2 eggs, 2 rashers of bacon, fried potato, tomato, homemade bread & butter plus tea/Nescafe) or homemade muesli topped with fresh fruit and cold milk, perfect for when you come back from an early morning surf and are ‘absolutely starving’.  We have no less than 4 burgers namely: beef, chicken, fish & veggie all with optional extras, various salads, mains, home baked bread, cakes and cookies.  We serve a wide range of fresh juices (with no sugar added) together with a range of teas, & filter, cappuccino, espresso coffees.

We also specialise in homemade ice cream & sorbets.  All our ice creams are made with fresh local water buffalo milk (extra creamy), fresh eggs & raw cane sugar & fresh dairy cream where applicable.  All our sorbets are homemade with filtered water, raw cane sugar & fresh fruit, suitable for vegans.

The brilliant thing about relocating to Kandy is that we now have a superb source of organic, free range pork & chicken, great beef and a larger range of veggies that we don’t or can’t grow and this has made us very happy!  We now have fab Ham (like proper ham with no added water or nasty orange breadcrumbs), great feta cheese, yummy homemade sandwich cheese and the list goes on………………

In order to support ‘local’ business and limit our carbon footprint, we buy Sri Lankan products when available.

We have a blackboard detailing daily specials, such as ‘Stir fried jumbo prawns with lemongrass, ginger and soy sauce’, ‘Fillet of red snapper with sundried tomato tapenade, chunky chips and mixed salad’ or ‘Rhubarb & ginger crumble’.

If you don’t find what you want, then just ask and we will try to provide it!  If you have any special dietary requirements or allergies please do let us know.  We can of course provide smaller portions of many of our dishes for children or those with a smaller appetite.
